COVID 19 Practices
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic the world of therapy is changing. I am currently seeing clients in a hybrid manner. I'm seeing clients based on their needs and desires. I have some clients whom I'm meeting via Telehealth teleconferencing, some by phone and others in person. It's a different world now. For high risk clients and those who prefer not to expose themselves Telehealth is the best option. Yes, it's different but effective. As of May 18, 2020 I've resumed seeing clients in-person provide they are healthy, have not recently been exposed and taking all the recommended precautions. I am doing the same. We owe it to one another. I have altered my schedule so that no-one will need to wait in the waiting area or pass the clients whom I just saw. I'm wiping down the area before and after and provide alcohol wipes when you enter my suite if you don't carry your own. I'm not wearing a face mask during our sessions since facial expressions of important. And I hope you feel comfortable enough in our sessions to feel comfortable removing yours. ___________________________________________________________________________ Welcome MFT not just for couples and families Thank you for considering me to help you with your concerns. As a marriage and family therapist (MFT), I work with people of all ages and in various groupings. I see individuals for therapy as well as couples and families. The MFT, LMFT credential is a modality (a type of therapy) and license rather than a description of the people status of the people we treat. As a MFT, I'm trained specifically to approach therapy from the client's strengths, instead of pathology. MFTs are systems therapists. We integrate complex systems such as psychology, environment, physical health, family of origin issues and past and current relationships to view the client as a whole person. It's not just about the problems and symptoms they present, it's about you - a whole person. My style is interactive and experiential - meaning being more in the moment and in tune with your present mood and interactions. You will be greatly involved in the therapy process because treatment is based on your agenda not mine. Therapy with isn't analysis. I don't just take notes and only nod my head. I work with you to help you gain new personal insights, solve problems and offer recommendations to help guide you to achieving your goals. Think of good therapy like good coaching. You have a trusted expert on your team to help you make revisions and learn new skills to get better results. Your input, blended with my expertise helps us develop achievable goals and a practical course of action. You are provided support without judgment. Ultimately my goal is to help you achieve the results you need and want and the ability to live your life fully. Therapy provides you with a safe and confidential environment to talk about concerns that can't comfortably be discussed openly with your friends and family. You're able to talk about your life, fears, regrets, inner self-perceptions and losses without judgment. . |
