Thank you for considering me to help you with your concerns. As a marriage and family therapist (MFT), I work with people of all ages and in various groupings. I see individuals for therapy as well as couples and families. The MFT, LMFT credential is a modality (a type of therapy) and license rather than a description of the people status of the people we treat. As a MFT, I'm trained specifically to approach therapy from the client's strengths, instead of pathology. MFTs are systems therapists. We integrate complex systems such as psychology, environment, physical health, family of origin issues and past and current relationships to view the client as a whole person. It's not just about the problems and symptoms they present, it's about you - a whole person.
My style is interactive and experiential - meaning being more in the moment. You will be greatly involved in the therapy process because treatment is based on your agenda not mine. Therapy with me isn't analysis. I don't just take notes and nod my head. I work with you to help you gain new personal insight, solve problems and offer recommendations all to lead you to achieving your goals. Think of good therapy like good coaching. You have a trusted expert on your team to help you make revisions and learn new skills to get better results. Your input, blended with my experience and expertise helps us develop goals and a course of action. You are provided support without judgment. Ultimately my goal is to help you achieve the results you need and want and the ability to live your life fully.
Therapy provides you with a safe and confidential environment to talk about concerns that can't comfortably be discussed openly with your friends and family. You're able to talk about your life, fears, regrets, inner self-perceptions and losses without judgment.
