Thank you for considering me to help you with your concerns. As a marriage and family therapist (MFT), I work with people of all ages and in various groupings. I see individuals, for therapy as well as couples and families. The MFT designation is a modality a type of therapy, rather than a description of the people we treat. As a MFT, I'm trained specifically to approach therapy from the client's strengths, instead of pathology. MFTs are systems therapists. We integrate complex systems such as psychology, environment, physical health, family of origin issues and past and current relationships to view the client as a whole person. It's not just about the problems and symptoms they present, it's about you - a whole person.
My style is interactive and experiential. You are greatly involved in the therapy process. It isn't analysis. I don't just take notes and nod my head. I work with you to help you gain new personal insight, solve problems and offer recommendations. Think of good therapy like good coaching. You have a trusted expert on your team to help you make revisions and learn new skills to get better results. Your input blended with my experience and expertise helps us develop goals and a course of action. You are provided support without any judgment throughout your most difficult times. And ultimately you achieve the results you need and want and the ability to live your life fully.
Therapy provides you with a safe and confidential environment to talk about concerns that can't comfortably be discussed openly with your friends and family. You're able to talk about your life, fears, regrets and losses without judgment.
